What was the Navajo Code and How did they Learn it?
As you already know, the Navajo code was NEVER broken in World War II. On the link below, you can learn how to say some of the most popular words using the code.

How did the Navajo learn the code? Well, the key words in the code had to be memorized. A few examples are the words bomb and kill. Japan thought they had unbreakable code, but they were broken. No one could break the Navajo's code. Another reason the code was unbreakable was that the words were not the exact words in Navajo. They were related like "a "chicken hawk," (a bird which dives on its prey)" was a dive-bomber.
In order to keep this code secret and to not confuse the Navajo for Japaneese, the Navjo talkers were issued "bodyguards." The bodyguards were instructed to protect the talker from the enemy, so they would not be captured. If necessary, they could kill the talker. The bodyguards were also issued to stop confusion. In one matter, a US soilder thought one of the Navajo bathing was Japanese. He even had his uniform lying next to him! He was brought back to the headquarters naked. Only then, did he get a bodyguard.
Below is the code talker's dictionary.

Typically, there was more than one way to say each word. The talkers had to be careful not to use the same word too many times over and over again or to repeat a message because it wold make breaking the code easier.
